Telling Others
Telling Others
Christ tells his disciples in Matthew 28 to make disciples of all nations.
If we are also to be Christ’s disciples we must do no less. I suggest we need to
start in our own homes with our own children. We are losing a large number of our
children to the world, especially when they move away from home.
God has commanded His people through the ages to teach their children about
Him. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 reads “These commandments that I give you today are to be
upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at
home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” [NIV]
Today’s instructions to us can be seen in Ephesians. “Fathers, do not exasperate
your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instructions of the Lord.”
Ephesians 6:4. [NIV] Bringing children up in the Lord is not possible with an
occasional Bible Class but it involves every aspect of life and occasion. Teaching
at home can be supplemented with Bible Classes with other children.
American children have so many things and know so much, yet they are so poor
in knowledge of things eternally important. They have all the latest gadgets. iPod,
iPad, TV, computer, cell phone, et al. [I expect to soon see ads for implants of
additional thumbs.] Yet, do they have the Biblical knowledge to identify sin? For
instance, do they know what adultery and fornication are? Is it alright to lie “just
a little”?
To help with teaching at home I want to encourage all parents to bring their
children to all our Bible Classes. The fall classes are going to be very challenging,
fun and informative. I invite all parents to learn along with the children. This
information from God’s word will help all of us in being able to live better lives
and telling others about Him. Doing everything to prevent losing our children to
the world is of eternal importance.
